ABOUT 卓 越
Zhuo Yue is a composer, sound artist, improviser and conductor. He is an Honorary Lecturer in Composition at Cardiff University, a composer published by Universal Edition, and the founder of Joson Culture (China).
His practice moves between composition, electronic music, improvisation, Fluxus and sound experimentation. An experienced performer in his own right, he is particularly interested in staged improvisation, theatrical expression and audience engagement, exploring how sound interacts with bodies, objects, spaces and spontaneous actions.
After more than a decade working within the contemporary music world in the UK, Zhuo recently returned to his hometown, Xiamen, where he is increasingly interested in sounds that do not quite behave as ‘music’: spontaneous, unstable and sometimes deliberately out of control.
